Ethical Fashion 02/23/2012
Kavita Parmar of IOU explains: "This project grew out of my frustration as a designer with the current fashion system, which is focused on creating a lot of product with very short life span and with little regard to the way it was made. The idea was to rethink the entire chain: to create a new one that allows goods to be produced and sold and serves everyone involved. It is sustainable for the artisan, the designer, the final consumer and not just a few at the top end. We like to call it the prosperity chain." http://www.ecouterre.com/iou-projects-kavita-parmar-offers-a-new-business-model-for-ethical-fashion/ Add Comment Solar Tulips 02/23/2012
"The solar tulips work on a novel form of concentrated solar power (CSP). Conventional CSP uses sunlight and mirrors to focus heat on a fluid that creates steam and drives a turbine. Aora’s technology does not use a fluid. Rather, it positions its mirrors so that sunlight focuses on pressurized air in the 35-meter (115 feet) tulip tower, raising temperatures to 1,000 degrees C (1,832 F) and creating a hot pressurized gas that drives a turbine." http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/intelligent-energy/flower-power-solar-tulip-provides-247-electricity/13402?tag=nl.e660 Educating climate change as a 'hoax'!? 02/23/2012

One can never underestimate vested business interests. The oil industry is like the cigarette industry of the past - the latter was committed to protect its interests regardless of the health effects on the consumer; the former regardless of its effects on the health of the Planet. Kock Industries, a major oil refiner, is connected to a non-profit that has donated funds to the intended anti Climate Change campaign: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/16/science/earth/in-heartland-institute-leak-a-plan-to-discredit-climate-teaching.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1 | ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
